Little Man

Eli has been making so many sweet expressions lately. It is so much fun to watch him grow and be able to interact with him in new ways. I was able to capture a few…

Makeup to the Rescue!

As a blogger, I am always seeking out other great blogs to read. I love being inspired, motivated, or encouraged by women who have mastered their passion and are willing to share. When I find a truly great blog, it is almost like finding a diamond in the rough…one URL amongst so many in the internet ocean. Ok that’s a little dramatic. But seriously, it gets me excited. I recently came across this one and just have to share!

She is a makeup artist with tons of amazing tips on how to look your best! I am amazed by this HAC technique she describes, and am definitely going to try it out! You should too, and go ahead and spend the next 2 hours browsing her blog, like I did!

Little Man

2 Month Update

The last couple months have been chaotic bliss; meaning, the hardest of my life, but filled with a joy and love that I have never known. I had hoped to ¬†write a post for each month of Eli’s life, but, I missed the first. I’m taking this opportunity to catch up and let ya’ll know how little man has progressed. Here are a few updates:

1. He now loves to be held, mostly outward, facing the action.

2. He likes to play on his mat and look into his mirror.

3. His head control is getting better and his neck is getting stronger.

4. He is cooing up a storm, especially when you sing to him.

5. He has a social smile, especially for Mommy and Daddy.

6. He has put on some weight and has lots of chunky fat rolls!

7. He can roll on his side.

8. He likes to be rocked to sleep, while Mommy sings to him.

9. He loves black and white objects and can follow them with his eyes.

10. He is warming up to the moby, as long as he is side-lying.

11. He takes the paci sometimes…but only 1 brand!

12. His feeding sessions are down to 20 minutes or less! Much better than the 45 minutes they used to be!

13. His sleeping pattern is 6-7hrs, 2-3hrs, 1hr.

14. He has more control over his arms and hands.

15. He is showing early signs of teething, sucking on his hands and fingers, and drooling up a storm!

16. He loves his carseat, and easily falls asleep while taking rides in the truck, or while taking walks in his stroller.

17. He sleeps in his swing, the movement is soothing to him.

18. He has completely outgrown his newborn clothes and is now filling out 0-3 month outfits.

19. He LOVES bath time.

20. He kicks all day long, much like he did in Mommy’s tummy!

He is our pride and joy, and I can’t wait to see how much he changes in the next month…for now, I’m going to savor where he is at!

In a Pinch

Life with a six week old is time-consuming, so…my dinners can’t be! Tacos are a go-to meal at our house. They are quick, easy, and delicious. That pre-packaged seasoning is usually stocked in my spice drawer, but when I went to prepare our Mexican feast last night, there were no packets to be found! Not wanting to bite into a pure beefy-tasting taco, I improvised. I found a recipe for homemade taco seasoning and the result was even tastier tacos than usual! Sometimes those lemons really do make lemonade! I am going to make a big batch of this stuff, jar it, and give it a new home in my spice drawer…right where those lack-luster packets used to be.

1 tbsp chili powder

1/4 tsp garlic powder

1/4 tsp onion powder

1/4 tsp red pepper flakes

1/4 tsp dried oregano

1/2 tsp paprika

1 1/2 tsp ground cumin

1 tsp kosher salt

1 tsp freshly ground black pepper

Mix all ingredients and store in an air-tight container. When ready to use, mix 2-3 tbsp per 1 pound of meat with 1/2 tbsp flour. Add to browned, drained meat along with 2/3 cup water. Let simmer over medium heat until slightly thickened. Enjoy!

101 in 1001

Happy New Year Everybody! I am so excited to share what I am planning for this New Year. Instead of a resolution, I am going to participate in completing a 101 in 1001 goals challenge. For those of you who aren’t familiar with this challenge, let me explain. This challenge takes place over the course of about 2.75 years, or 1001 days. In that time, I will attempt to complete 101 tasks, or goals. Some of these goals are small, and others large. All of them, however, are attainable, and measurable. The idea is to give myself a longer stretch of time (multiple seasons) to grow in various ways. I am so excited to begin, and cannot wait to see what I can accomplish!

Here are the logistics: Below, I have inserted a link to the document containing my list of 101 tasks. To see my progress, visit the “Gumptions” tab and click on the document. I will continue to update it as time passes. I will most likely blog my progress and share about goals that I reach. In 1001 days, we will see how far along I get!
